For 8.5 years, I took on the challenge of leading all marketing efforts for the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire—one of the largest and most celebrated Renaissance events in the Pacific Northwest. As the sole marketing strategist and creative lead, I handled everything from brand development and digital presence to public relations and audience engagement. My work spanned rebranding the event, creating a cohesive visual identity, managing the website, producing marketing materials, crafting ad campaigns, and executing PR initiatives—all while driving consistent growth and maintaining the Faire’s vibrant, community-focused spirit.

I led the marketing and creative strategy for the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire, taking charge of multi-channel campaigns and building a cohesive brand identity. My work spanned rebranding, designing visual assets, managing the website, and crafting all written and digital content. I produced radio scripts, led video production, and ensured brand consistency across platforms. To engage diverse audiences, I developed targeted social media strategies and crafted promotional materials that captured the Faire’s dynamic vibe. On the PR front, I wrote press releases, secured news coverage, and organized community events to boost visibility and engagement. My goal was to amplify the Faire’s presence, grow attendance, and create an unforgettable, immersive experience that stayed true to its vibrant spirit.

My creative process for the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire centered on crafting an immersive and unforgettable experience. Each year, I focused on developing dynamic themes that not only honored Renaissance traditions but also introduced fresh, engaging concepts to keep audiences captivated. I built multi-faceted campaigns that integrated storytelling, bold visuals, and strategic messaging across all platforms. A key part of the process was collaborating with performance groups, local artisans, and community partners to ensure the Faire remained both authentic and innovative. By balancing creative vision with practical execution, I consistently delivered campaigns that energized the community, increased attendance, and upheld the Faire’s reputation as a premier summer event.
The Results
During my 8.5 years as Marketing Director, the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire experienced incredible growth and transformation. We expanded from a three-weekend event to five full weekends, introduced themed experiences and enhanced programming, and grew attendance from 35,000 in 2016 to over 88,000 by 2024. Ticket revenue surged by over 970% during that time, reflecting both increased scale and sustained demand. Our digital presence grew steadily as well, with the Faire’s Facebook audience becoming one of the most active and engaged in the regional event space. Through bold branding, strategic marketing, and immersive storytelling, WMRF became not just an event—but a summer tradition for thousands of fans across the Pacific Northwest.
